Perennial evergreen tree. Old leaves are shed in the dry season and the new flush of leaves appears almost simultaneously.

Scientific synonyms: C. excelsa, C. zeylancia. Wild durian can be found in tropical areas at altitude between 600-1500 m, with a relative humidity i July of 90-100% and in January of 60-80%. The tree can reach a height of up to 30 m. It is sensitive to fire.
